Practice Placement Expenses (PPE) / Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE)
Students studying Nursing may be able to reclaim accommodation and travel costs associated with the undertaking of their placement. Eligibility and conditions apply. Students must submit their practice placement expenses claim form within 6 months of the last day of their placement. All claim forms should be handed in at the School of Health and Social Care for processing. To ensure that claims are made using the most up-to-date claim form, please download it direct from the NHS Student Bursaries website.

New Nursing students – Similar to the Practice Placement Expenses detailed in the NHS Bursary Scheme, the new Travel and Dual Accommodation Expenses (TDAE) will reimburse excess costs incurred when undertaking practical training on placements. The University of Lincoln offers the following help to Nursing students who are undertaken practice placements:
- Bridging Loans: The University offers a bridging loan to help bridge the gap between incurring eligible placement costs and being reimbursed by the NHS – conditions and eligibility criteria apply. Please find a copy of the application form below. Alternatively, for more information and an application form, please contact email@example.com. Loans are repayable no later than 8 weeks after the end of the placement.
- Car Hire: if a student cannot use public transport or local accommodation and has no other choice but to use a hire car, this may be hired using the University’s Account. The student must provide evidence that they satisfy University of Lincoln driver requirements before a car may be hired. The student must repay the University the full cost of car hire as soon as they are reimbursed by the NHS. More information regarding car hire can be found on Blackboard.
The University of Lincoln has authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority to give debt advice and issue short term loans.
